Pouilly sur loire

Pouilly-sur-Loire is a small town in the Nièvre department, in Burgundy, set on the banks of the Loire. It is best known for its vineyards, which produce the Pouilly-Fumé appellation from Sauvignon Blanc grapes and the Pouilly-sur-Loire appellation from Chasselas. The rolling vine-covered landscape surrounding the town is dotted with wine cellars and estates offering tastings and tours. The town faces Sancerre across the river, in the neighbouring Cher department, providing a fine vantage point over both wine-growing areas. The Loire à Vélo cycle route, which follows the river, passes through the area, making it easy to reach other wine villages and historic sites along the valley. The town centre retains a typically rural character, with stone houses and a peaceful atmosphere, well suited to a quiet stay centred on wine discovery and the Loire countryside. The surrounding area also offers opportunities for walking and cycling along the riverbanks, set within the characteristic green scenery of the Loire Valley.
