Gien sur cure

Gien-sur-Cure is a small rural village in the Nièvre department, set in the heart of the Morvan Regional Nature Park. The village takes its name from the River Cure, which flows through it, shaping a landscape of wooded valleys and rolling hills typical of this part of the Massif Central. The largely forested, hilly surroundings are well suited to walking, mountain biking and river fishing. The nearby Lac des Settons and several Morvan ponds also allow for water sports and swimming during the summer months. The neighbouring town of Montsauche-les-Settons and the town of Château-Chinon provide local shops and services. The Morvan region, known for its dense forests, natural springs and unspoilt countryside, tends to draw visitors seeking nature and quiet. The climate is semi-continental, with colder, snowier winters than elsewhere in Burgundy and mild summers.
