Pomaia

Pomaia is a small hamlet within the municipality of Santa Luce, in the province of Pisa, set amid the rolling Pisan hills of Tuscany. The village is best known for hosting the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute, one of Europe's most significant Buddhist study and meditation centres, established in the 1970s and still active today, drawing visitors for retreats and courses. Beyond this distinctive landmark, Pomaia offers a classic Tuscan rural setting, with olive groves, vineyards and gentle hills ideal for walking and exploring the surrounding countryside. The village lies around thirty kilometres from the Tyrrhenian coast and the city of Pisa, making it easy to combine a countryside stay with day trips to the seaside. Nearby, the thermal springs of Casciana Terme, renowned since Roman times, add a wellness dimension to the area. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, supports outdoor activities for much of the year.
