Rosignano Marittimo

Rosignano Marittimo is a municipality in the province of Livorno, Tuscany, stretching between rolling hills and the Tyrrhenian coastline. It comprises several distinct areas: the historic hilltop centre, the seaside resort of Castiglioncello with its Art Nouveau villas and rocky coves, and Vada with its long sandy beach. The best-known spot, however, is Spiagge Bianche in Rosignano Solvay, where strikingly white sand and turquoise water result from calcium carbonate deposits linked to the former Solvay chemical plant. The area enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean climate, ideal for seaside holidays from May to September.
