St Pierre

Saint-Pierre is a small town in the Aosta Valley, north-western Italy, just a few kilometres west of Aosta. The village is dominated by the Castle of Saint-Pierre, a medieval building recognisable by its pointed turrets, which now houses the regional museum of natural sciences. Nearby stands the Sarriod de la Tour castle, another example of the region's feudal architecture. The town serves as a gateway to the Gran Paradiso National Park, providing access to side valleys such as Val di Rhêmes and Valsavarenche, popular for hiking and spotting alpine wildlife, including ibex. The mountain climate, with mild summers and cold, snowy winters, supports outdoor activities throughout the year. The proximity to Aosta makes it easy to explore the city's Roman heritage, while the surrounding vineyards produce mountain wines typical of the area. Saint-Pierre remains a quiet base from which to discover the traditions and landscapes of the Aosta Valley.
