La Salle

La Salle is a mountain municipality in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley, in north-western Italy, not far from Courmayeur and the Mont Blanc massif. The village spreads across slopes overlooking the main valley, offering a typical alpine setting with views of the surrounding peaks. The locality retains historical remains, including an old medieval castle that reflects the region's past as a route towards the alpine passes. La Salle serves as a popular starting point for summer walking, thanks to a network of paths linking hamlets and mountain pastures, as well as for winter sports, with several ski resorts nearby in the Aosta Valley. Local cuisine showcases typical Valdostan produce, such as Fontina PDO cheese and mountain wines grown on sun-facing slopes. The alpine climate, with mild summers and snowy winters, supports year-round active tourism.
