Lago di Caldonazzo

Lake Caldonazzo, located in the Valsugana valley in Trentino, is the largest lake situated entirely within this Italian province. Bordered by the towns of Caldonazzo, Calceranica al Lago and Pergine Valsugana, it is known as one of the warmest lakes in the region, its shallow depth allowing the water to reach pleasant temperatures in summer, ideal for swimming. Several equipped beaches, such as Sabbie d'Oro in Calceranica, provide easy access to the lake, often featuring shaded areas and green spaces. The site is popular for water sports, particularly sailing and windsurfing, thanks to generally favourable winds. A cycle path runs around the lake, allowing visitors to explore it on foot or by bike, with views of the surrounding mountains, including Monte Vigolana and the Alpe Cimbra plateau. The nearby spa town of Levico Terme adds to the area's tourist appeal. The setting remains largely unspoilt, characterised by wooded hills and landscapes typical of Trentino, offering a peaceful alternative to busier destinations.
