Stenico

Stenico is a small village in Trentino, located within the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park in the Giudicarie valley. It is best known for its medieval castle, the Castello di Stenico, which overlooks the village and ranks among the most visited monuments in the region, featuring historic rooms, frescoes and a collection of ancient weapons. The village retains a traditional historic centre with narrow lanes, stone houses and archways typical of Trentino's mountain architecture. The surrounding natural setting, framed by the Brenta Dolomites and close to Lake Molveno, offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, cycling and wildlife spotting, including the brown bears reintroduced to the park. The area is also known for its local produce, such as Trentingrana cheese, polenta and mountain cured meats. Stenico makes a convenient base for exploring the Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the nearby Terme di Comano spa, known for its waters said to benefit the skin. The alpine climate is cool in summer and well suited to winter sports in the surrounding mountains.
