Lauzerte

Lauzerte is a medieval hilltop bastide town in the Tarn-et-Garonne department, in the Occitanie region of southwest France. Founded in the 13th century by the Count of Toulouse, it is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France and forms a recognised stopping point on the Way of St James (Via Podiensis, GR65), making it a popular waypoint for pilgrims and hikers. The village retains architecture typical of the Quercy Blanc area: limestone houses, steep lanes, remnants of ramparts, and the arcaded Place des Cornières, its lively historic heart and market square. The Saint-Barthélemy church and the Chapelle des Carmes reflect its medieval heritage.
