Puylaroque

Puylaroque is a hilltop village in the Quercy Blanc area of the Tarn-et-Garonne department, not far from Caussade and Montauban. Its name reflects its elevated position, typical of the medieval bastide villages found throughout the region, with narrow winding streets, a central square and stone houses built from local limestone. The village offers sweeping views over the surrounding countryside, characterised by gentle hills, sunflower fields and vineyards. The local economy remains rooted in agriculture, particularly the cultivation of Quercy melons and walnuts, both regional specialities. The mild, sunny climate for much of the year makes the area well suited to outdoor pursuits such as walking along rural footpaths, exploring the architectural heritage of neighbouring villages, or browsing the markets of Caussade and Montauban. The Quercy Blanc region, stretching between Montauban and the Lot, is valued for its rural authenticity and unhurried pace, away from the busier tourist routes. Puylaroque therefore makes a peaceful base for discovering Tarn-et-Garonne, combining understated architectural charm with the preserved farmland landscapes of south-western France.
