Gimat

Gimat is an area within Montauban, the county town of Tarn-et-Garonne in the Occitanie region of southern France. The town is known for its historic centre with distinctive pink-brick façades, a legacy of its rich architectural heritage, as well as the arcaded Place Nationale, one of its most notable landmarks. Montauban is also the birthplace of the painter Ingres, whose work is celebrated in a local museum. The nearby River Tarn provides pleasant riverside walks. The climate, with a mild Mediterranean influence, brings hot, dry summers and gentle winters, ideal for outdoor activities for much of the year. The surrounding countryside, shaped by farming and vineyards, offers local produce such as Quercy melons and Moissac chasselas grapes. Montauban lies around 30 kilometres from Toulouse, making it a convenient base for exploring the wider heritage of Tarn-et-Garonne, with its medieval bastide towns, river valleys and typical villages of south-western France.
