Montricoux

Montricoux is a small village in the Tarn-et-Garonne department, set on the banks of the Aveyron river, close to Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val and Bruniquel. Its medieval core features half-timbered houses, arcaded streets and narrow lanes typical of south-western bastide villages, along with an old bridge crossing the river. The château du Ferrand, overlooking the village, was long home to a museum dedicated to the painter Marcel-Lenoir, who was born in the area. The surrounding countryside, between hillsides and the Aveyron valley, is well suited to walking, cycling and exploring nearby villages ranked among the most beautiful in France. The region is known for mixed farming and local produce such as Quercy melons and Gaillac wine, produced just a few kilometres away. The climate is a modified oceanic type, with warm, dry summers ideal for outdoor pursuits and river swimming. Montricoux makes a peaceful base for exploring Tarn-et-Garonne, combining medieval heritage, agricultural landscapes and easy access to the Aveyron gorges.
