Montech

Montech is a small town in the Tarn-et-Garonne department, a few kilometres south of Montauban, situated along the Canal latéral à la Garonne, part of the wider Canal des Deux Mers network. The town is best known for its water slope, an unusual hydraulic structure built in the 1970s to allow boats to bypass conventional locks using a system of tyre-mounted locomotives pushing a wedge of water.
