Bourg de visa

Bourg-de-Visa is a small village in the Tarn-et-Garonne department, set within the Lomagne countryside, close to Lauzerte and Montaigu-de-Quercy. The village retains a distinctly medieval character, centred around its arcaded market square lined with timber-framed houses typical of the Quercy region, where the local market has traditionally been held. The stone-and-brick architecture reflects its origins as a former bastide town, built on raised ground overlooking the surrounding rolling countryside. The landscape of hills, farmland and small woodlands makes for pleasant walking and cycling along the paths connecting the villages of Lomagne and Quercy Blanc. The area is also known for its agricultural produce, including Quercy melons and Fronton wines, produced a short drive away. The climate is a mild, oceanic-influenced type with southern touches, bringing warm, dry summers and gentle winters. Bourg-de-Visa makes a quiet base from which to explore the bastide towns of south-west France, the perched villages of the neighbouring Lot department, and the characteristic farming landscapes of Tarn-et-Garonne, away from the busier tourist centres.
