Mayran

Mayran is a small rural commune in the Aveyron department, in the Occitanie region, located a few kilometres north of Rodez, the departmental capital. The village lies within the typical landscape of the Rouergue area, characterised by limestone plateaus, green valleys and farmland traditionally used for livestock farming. The climate is oceanic with some continental influence due to altitude, bringing moderately warm summers and cooler winters than in the surrounding valleys. Its proximity to Rodez provides easy access to shops, services and the railway station, which connects to Toulouse and Paris. The surrounding countryside offers a peaceful setting, ideal for walking and hiking along rural paths linking hamlets and farms. Aveyron's regional specialities, such as aligot, Roquefort cheese and local charcuterie, are readily available in nearby markets and restaurants. Mayran therefore serves as a quiet base from which to explore the Rouergue, combining unspoilt nature and authentic rural heritage while remaining close to the urban amenities of Rodez.
