Montezic

Montezic is a small village in the Aveyron department, located in the Carladez area on the fringes of the Aubrac plateau, benefiting from a climate that blends mountain and Mediterranean influences. The village is best known for its dam and reservoir lake, linked to the EDF pumped-storage hydroelectric power station, one of the more significant facilities of its kind in France. Surrounded by green hills, the lake provides an attractive natural setting for walking and taking in the volcanic scenery typical of the Carladez region. The surrounding countryside, shaped by the plateaux of the Massif Central, offers a peaceful rural environment well suited to outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking and fishing in the nearby streams. Local architecture reflects the traditional Aveyron style, with stone hamlets and characteristic farming landscapes.
