Taussac

Taussac is a small rural village in the northern part of the Aveyron department, within the Carladez area, a stretch of mid-mountain countryside bordering the Cantal. The village lies close to Lake Sarrans, a large reservoir created by a dam on the River Truyère, popular for fishing and water-based activities. The surrounding landscape is typical of the Aubrac and Carladez regions, with rolling hills, pastureland and woodland offering excellent opportunities for walking and exploring the countryside. Local architecture reflects traditional Aveyron building styles, featuring stone-built houses scattered across small hamlets. The area is also known for its regional cuisine, including dishes such as aligot and truffade, along with cheeses produced from the dairy farming traditions of the nearby Aubrac plateau. The peaceful, unspoilt character of Taussac makes it well suited to nature-focused stays, away from busier tourist areas, for visitors keen to experience an authentic corner of the Massif Central.
