St rome de tarn

Saint-Rome-de-Tarn is a village in the Aveyron département of southern France, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Tarn valley. Located between Millau and Rodez, it lies at the edge of the Causses and Cévennes area, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its limestone plateaus and gorges. The village retains a distinctly local character, with stone houses clustered around an old clock tower and narrow lanes offering views over the river. The Tarn, which runs through the commune, is well suited to water activities such as canoeing and kayaking, particularly popular in the summer months. The surrounding countryside, shaped by the wide limestone plateaus known as the Causses, is ideal for walking, mountain biking and exploring karst landscapes. The Millau Viaduct, a notable feat of engineering, lies around twenty kilometres away, while the village of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, famed for its AOP blue cheese, is also nearby. The climate is broadly Mediterranean but tempered by altitude, bringing warm, dry summers and cooler winters typical of the Aveyron Causses.
