Auzits

Auzits is a village in the Aveyron department, in the Occitanie region of southern France, situated within the Decazeville basin, close to Rodez and not far from the village of Conques, a well-known stop on the Way of St James pilgrimage route. The surrounding landscape is typical of the Rouergue area, featuring rolling hills, causses and valleys ideal for walking and exploring rural Aveyron heritage. The climate is a mild oceanic type with continental influences, bringing warm summers and cooler winters, suited to outdoor stays throughout the year. The area retains traces of its industrial past linked to the Decazeville coal-mining basin, while still maintaining a strong agricultural and pastoral identity. Visitors can sample regional specialities such as aligot, tripoux, and Roquefort cheese, produced nearby. Auzits therefore offers a peaceful base from which to explore the surrounding villages, enjoy an unspoilt natural setting, and venture out to the notable sites of northern Aveyron, including the historic village of Conques.
