Montrozier

Montrozier is a small village in the Aveyron department, set within the Aveyron gorges, around fifteen kilometres from Rodez. The village is overlooked by its château, now home to a natural history museum, which forms the main heritage feature of the area. The River Aveyron, running through the commune, provides a pleasant setting for outdoor pursuits such as canoeing, kayaking, fishing and riverside walks. The surrounding cliffs, particularly around the Combe d'Enfer, are popular with climbers. The lush, rural surroundings typical of the Rouergue region make it a good base for walking and exploring the causses and valley landscapes characteristic of this part of Aveyron. The proximity of Rodez also gives easy access to shops, services and cultural attractions in a larger town, while still enjoying the peace of the Aveyron countryside. Montrozier therefore makes an appealing base for discovering the Aveyron valley, combining unspoilt nature with local heritage, in a region with a temperate climate of warm summers and cooler winters.
