Broquies

Broquies is a village in the Aveyron department, in the southern Rouergue region, close to the Tarn valley and not far from Saint-Rome-de-Tarn. The commune lies within the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park, an area characterised by limestone plateaux, deep valleys and traditional rural farming. The surrounding landscape is well suited to walking, exploring the stone-built heritage typical of the Rouergue, and observing unspoilt nature, ranging from arid uplands to greener valleys. The region is also known for local produce, particularly cheese and sheep farming, both central to the Aveyron's agricultural economy. Broquies experiences a contrasting climate, with hot, dry summers and harsher winters, typical of the rugged terrain of the southern Massif Central. Its proximity to the Tarn gorges and neighbouring villages allows for excursions to wider natural and heritage sites.
