Lassouts

Lassouts is a small rural village in the northern Aveyron département, perched on a plateau overlooking the Lot valley, not far from Espalion and Saint-Côme-d'Olt. This part of the Rouergue region is characterised by rolling countryside, limestone plateaux and gorges, ideal for walking and discovering local heritage, including a rural church typical of Aveyron architecture. The area enjoys a climate with both continental and southern influences, bringing warm summers and cooler winters at higher altitudes. The surrounding countryside offers a peaceful, unspoilt setting, popular for green tourism and outdoor activities such as walking or cycling along the Lot valley. Local cuisine reflects Aveyron traditions, with specialities including aligot, tripoux and regional cheeses, including Roquefort produced nearby. Lassouts therefore makes a quiet base for exploring the rural heritage of the Rouergue, amid characterful villages and the natural landscapes of the Lot valley, in a setting that remains authentic and largely untouched by mass tourism.
