Celle sul Rigo

Celle sul Rigo is a small medieval hamlet forming part of the municipality of San Casciano dei Bagni, in the province of Siena, Tuscany. Perched on a hill overlooking the valley of the Rigo stream, it retains an authentic rural character, with stone lanes and a peaceful atmosphere typical of villages in this part of the Val d'Orcia. The surrounding area is well known for its thermal springs, particularly those of San Casciano dei Bagni, which date back to Roman times and are now home to modern spa facilities. The landscape of rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards and woodland is ideal for walking and cycling, with open views towards Monte Amiata and the fortress of Radicofani. Local cuisine centres on Tuscan olive oil, regional wines and traditional produce such as pecorino cheese and truffles. Nearby villages including Cetona, Chianciano Terme and Sarteano offer further opportunities to explore art, history and local life.
