Trequanda

Trequanda is a small hilltop medieval village in the Crete Senesi area, in the province of Siena, Tuscany, close to Pienza and Montepulciano. Its historic centre retains narrow lanes, remains of its castle, and the Romanesque church of Santi Pietro e Andrea, notable for the clock set into its façade. The village overlooks the clay hills, vineyards and olive groves typical of the region, offering wide views across the Sienese countryside. The local economy remains tied to agriculture, producing wine and olive oil, along with truffle harvesting, celebrated during a traditional autumn fair. The Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild winters, makes the area well suited to walking or cycling between nearby hamlets. Trequanda serves as a peaceful base for exploring the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as the neighbouring towns of Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano, known for their Renaissance architecture and wines.
