Travale

Travale is a small hamlet within the municipality of Monticiano, in the province of Siena, in the heart of southern Tuscany. Set within an unspoilt rural landscape, close to the Alto Merse Nature Reserve, the village offers a peaceful setting well suited to nature lovers and hikers. The surrounding countryside, characterised by wooded hills, valleys and streams, is ideal for walking or cycling amid largely untouched nature. The wider area is known for its geothermal activity, forming part of the typical landscape of the Tuscan Metalliferous Hills. Travale retains an authentic character, away from mass tourism routes, with simple rural architecture typical of villages in the Sienese countryside. The Tuscan climate, with warm, dry summers and mild winters, makes the region enjoyable for much of the year. The surrounding area also provides easy access to other towns in southern Siena province, making Travale a quiet base from which to explore the Tuscan countryside, its local produce and its well-preserved natural heritage.
