Cinquale

Cinquale is a coastal resort on the Tuscan shoreline, part of the municipality of Montignoso in the province of Massa-Carrara. It lies along the Tyrrhenian coast, between Forte dei Marmi and Marina di Massa, in the heart of the Versilia region, known for its long stretches of fine sandy beaches and well-organised seaside establishments. The area has a quieter, more family-friendly feel than its more fashionable neighbours, while still benefiting from the amenities and lively atmosphere of nearby Forte dei Marmi. Behind the town, the Apuan Alps rise dramatically, their peaks marked by the marble quarries of Carrara, creating a striking contrast with the blue sea. The mild Mediterranean climate makes the area pleasant for seaside holidays from May to September. Nearby attractions include the medieval village of Montignoso and its Aghinolfi Castle, as well as day trips to the art towns of Pietrasanta or Lucca, both just a short drive away. Cinquale therefore makes a peaceful base from which to enjoy both the Tuscan coastline and its mountainous hinterland.
