San Carlo Terme

San Carlo Terme is a hamlet within the municipality of Massa, in the province of Massa-Carrara, Tuscany. Nestled at the foot of the Apuan Alps, the area carries a thermal heritage suggested by its name, and lies close to the renowned Carrara marble quarries, visible from the surrounding hillsides. The locality enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with warm summers and mild winters typical of the Tyrrhenian coast. Just a few kilometres away are the beaches of Marina di Massa and the Versilia coastline, known for their long sandy shores and traditional beach resorts. The surrounding area also offers hiking opportunities in the Apuan Alps, popular with those who enjoy dramatic mountain scenery set against the coast. Nearby Massa itself boasts a historic centre with the Malaspina Castle and a lively main square.
