Solanas

Solanas is a small coastal locality in south-eastern Sardinia, part of the municipality of Villasimius in the Province of South Sardinia. It is best known for its pale sandy beach and turquoise waters, typical of this stretch of coastline between Cagliari and Capo Carbonara. The surrounding landscape features low Mediterranean scrub, a few dunes and rocky coves interspersed with sandy stretches, creating an unspoilt natural setting popular for swimming and diving. The area lies close to other well-regarded beaches in the region, such as Punta Molentis and Costa Rei, making it a convenient base for exploring the south-eastern coast of the island. The village itself remains modest in size, with shops and dining options concentrated mainly during the summer season, when tourist activity peaks. Cagliari, Sardinia's capital, is under an hour's drive away, allowing for easy day trips. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, means visitor numbers are highest between June and September, when the coastline draws holidaymakers seeking beach-based relaxation and outdoor activities.
