Grazzano Badoglio

Grazzano Badoglio is a small municipality in Piedmont, in the province of Asti, at the heart of the Monferrato, a wine-growing area listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside the Langhe and Roero regions. The village took its current name in honour of Marshal Pietro Badoglio, who was born here, in 1939; a family castle houses a mausoleum dedicated to him. The surrounding landscape is characterised by vine-covered hills typical of this part of Piedmont, where Barbera del Monferrato wine is produced. The town retains a quiet, rural character, away from major tourist routes, making it a low-key base for exploring the Piedmontese countryside. The surrounding area invites walks through vineyards and small fortified villages, as well as the discovery of local gastronomy, including wines, cheeses and cured meats typical of the region. Overall, the atmosphere remains that of an authentic agricultural territory, valued more for its tranquillity and rolling views than for any major cultural or event-driven appeal.
