Cocconato

Cocconato is a small town in the province of Asti, Piedmont, set amid the rolling hills of Monferrato, a wine-growing landscape listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The village belongs to the association 'I Borghi più belli d'Italia', which brings together Italian localities of notable architectural heritage. Its historic centre retains a medieval layout, with narrow lanes, stone houses and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding vineyards and Monferrato hills. Cocconato is also known for its culinary traditions, including an annual honey fair that draws enthusiasts of local produce. The surrounding countryside is ideal for discovering Piedmontese wines such as Barbera and Grignolino, produced in the nearby vineyards. The continental climate, with warm summers and cool winters, makes spring and autumn the best seasons to explore the area on foot or by bicycle.
