Castagnole Monferrato

Castagnole Monferrato is a small village in Piedmont, in the province of Asti, at the heart of the Monferrato area, a hilly region recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its vine-growing landscapes. The village is particularly known for Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato, a DOCG red wine produced exclusively in this area from a rare native grape variety grown on the surrounding slopes. It retains an authentic rural character, with typical narrow streets, a parish church and open views over the vineyards and hills of the Monferrato. The region is well suited to quiet stays, combining visits to family-run wineries, tastings of local wines and Piedmontese cuisine, including agnolotti pasta, bagna cauda and regional cheeses. The surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for walking or cycling through the vineyards, as well as day trips to nearby towns such as Asti or Moncalvo. The temperate continental climate, with warm summers and mild autumns, favours the grape harvest and draws wine tourism enthusiasts, especially during the picking season.
