Marsciano

Marsciano is a municipality in the province of Perugia, in Umbria, situated in the Tiber valley around twenty kilometres south of Perugia. The surrounding countryside is characterised by cultivated hills, vineyards and olive groves, typical of the rural Umbrian landscape. The historic centre retains traces of a medieval fortress (the Rocca), reflecting the town's former defensive role in controlling a strategic crossing along the Tiber river. The local economy remains tied to agriculture, particularly wine and olive production, alongside some small-scale craft and industrial activity. Marsciano makes a convenient base for exploring other well-known Umbrian towns nearby, such as Deruta, celebrated for its centuries-old ceramics tradition, or Todi, a hilltop town noted for its art and architecture.
