Campodolcino

Campodolcino is a mountain village in the Val San Giacomo, in the province of Sondrio, just a few kilometres from the Swiss border and the Splügen Pass. Located in the Valchiavenna area, it serves as a gateway to the Madesimo ski resort, reached by cable car, and is a popular base for winter sports as well as summer hiking towards the surrounding alpine pastures and Pian dei Cavalli. The area is crossed by the historic road leading to the Splügen Pass, once a major route between Italy and Switzerland. The local architecture retains traditional stone buildings typical of the Lombard Alpine valleys. Local cuisine showcases Valtellina specialities such as pizzoccheri, bresaola and mountain cheeses. Surrounded by peaks often exceeding 2,500 metres, the area appeals to those seeking unspoilt nature and mountain sports, both in winter and summer.
