Pompeiana

Pompeiana is a small hilltop village in the hinterland of Liguria, in the province of Imperia, just a short distance from the coast and the French border. Typical of the Riviera dei Fiori area, the surrounding landscape is shaped by terraced olive groves, with olive oil having long been a mainstay of the local economy. The village retains a traditional stone-built character, with narrow lanes and closely packed houses clustered around its old centre, offering open views over the valley below and, on clear days, glimpses of the Mediterranean Sea. Its elevated position provides a mild climate throughout the year, tempered by the nearby sea and sheltered from winds by the surrounding Alpine foothills. Pompeiana makes for a pleasant base for walking through the hills and olive groves, as well as for day trips to neighbouring villages in the Imperia hinterland.
