Ospedaletti

Ospedaletti is a small coastal town in Liguria, in the province of Imperia, along the Riviera dei Fiori. Thanks to a particularly mild microclimate, sheltered by the surrounding hills, the town developed Mediterranean and exotic vegetation from the late 19th century onwards, with palm trees and mimosa blooming as early as winter. This gentle climate made it a favoured winter resort among European aristocracy, a period during which a casino, now closed, and a racecourse were built, contributing to its reputation. The town is also home to one of Italy's oldest golf courses, opened in the late 19th century. The seafront features a coastal promenade and a pedestrian tunnel carved into the rock, connecting Ospedaletti to neighbouring towns such as Bordighera. The beaches are mostly pebbled, with a few sandy stretches. The proximity of Sanremo, just a few kilometres away, allows visitors to enjoy the amenities of a larger town while staying in a quieter, more residential setting typical of this stretch of the Ligurian Riviera.
