Laigueglia

Laigueglia is a small seaside resort on the Ligurian coast, in the province of Savona, situated between Alassio and Cervo. The village retains an authentic character, with narrow lanes, colourful houses and a palm-lined seafront typical of Ponente Ligure. The fine, gently sloping sandy beach makes it a popular choice for families, with numerous beach clubs offering sunbed and parasol hire throughout the summer season. The historic centre, clustered around the parish church of Sant'Anna and Matteo, is well suited to strolling, with shops, restaurants and gelaterias. Local cuisine centres on seafood, particularly anchovies, traditionally fished in the area, alongside focaccia and classic Ligurian dishes based on olive oil and basil. The small harbour shelters a few fishing boats and allows for pleasant walks along the pier with views over the bay. Laigueglia also serves as a convenient base for exploring nearby towns such as Alassio, Andora and Cervo, as well as for enjoying the mild Mediterranean climate that characterises this stretch of the Italian Riviera for much of the year.
