Chiusanico

Chiusanico is a small municipality in the province of Imperia, in Liguria, nestled in the Impero Valley just a few kilometres from the Mediterranean coast. This hilly area is typical of the Ligurian hinterland, characterised by terraced olive groves stretching across the surrounding slopes. The region is well known for its olive oil production, particularly from the taggiasca variety, traditionally cultivated throughout the Impero Valley. The village retains an authentic rural character, away from the busier coastal tourist spots, while remaining easily accessible from the nearby port town of Imperia. The surrounding countryside offers pleasant opportunities for walks through hamlets and rural paths, among centuries-old olive trees and small streams. The mild Mediterranean climate makes it suitable for visits throughout the year, from spring through to summer. Chiusanico serves as a peaceful base from which to explore the Ligurian hinterland, its local produce and traditional way of life, while still being within easy reach of the beaches and seaside resorts of the Riviera dei Fiori.
