Cervo

Cervo is a small medieval village in the province of Imperia, in the Liguria region, along the Riviera dei Fiori, close to Diano Marina and San Bartolomeo al Mare. Perched on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, its historic centre is characterised by narrow lanes, colourful houses and vaulted passageways typical of Ligurian hilltop villages. The Baroque church of San Giovanni Battista, known locally as 'dei Corallini' in reference to the village's former coral fishing and craft trade, overlooks the main square and serves as the village's landmark. Cervo is also known for its international chamber music festival, held in summer in this same square, which draws music enthusiasts from across the region. The area enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate suited to visits throughout the year, and lies just a short distance from the beaches along the Ligurian coast. The surrounding countryside offers walking opportunities inland, along with local culinary specialities based on fish, olive oil and other Ligurian produce. The village makes a peaceful base from which to explore the Riviera dei Fiori while enjoying an authentic, unspoilt setting.
