Lesa

Lesa is a small town in Piedmont, in the province of Novara, set on the western shore of Lake Maggiore. Its lakeside position makes it a pleasant base for exploring this part of the lake, situated between the better-known resorts of Stresa and Arona. The village retains a quiet charm, with a promenade along the water, characterful narrow streets and several historic villas, including Villa Stampa, associated with the writer Antonio Fogazzaro, who stayed there and set part of his novel “Piccolo mondo antico” in the area. The ruins of the Rocca, a former medieval fortification, hint at the town's defensive past. The lake's mild climate supports Mediterranean-style gardens and makes the area popular for walking and cycling along the shoreline.
