Griante Cadenabbia

Griante Cadenabbia is a municipality on Lake Como, formed by the merger of the villages of Griante and Cadenabbia, on the western shore facing Bellagio and Varenna. Cadenabbia developed from the 19th century onwards as a popular resort, particularly among British visitors, and retains its historic lakeside hotels and a lakeside promenade lined with plane trees. The village's ferry landing offers convenient connections to Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna, making it a handy base for exploring the lake. Nearby stands Villa Carlotta, with its terraced botanical gardens, one of the region's principal attractions. The hamlet of Griante, set higher up, sits beneath the Sasso di San Martino, a rocky outcrop offering panoramic views over the lake and reachable via hiking trails. The mild climate typical of Lake Como, combined with Mediterranean vegetation and surrounding mountain scenery, makes this a favoured spot for quiet stays centred on walking, cultural sightseeing and boat trips across the lake.
