Cerano d'Intelvi

Cerano d'Intelvi is a small locality in the Valle Intelvi, in the Province of Como, Lombardy, now part of the merged municipality of Centro Valle Intelvi, formed in 2014. Set between Lake Como and Lake Lugano, close to the Swiss border, it enjoys a mid-mountain climate with mild summers and cooler winters, well suited to outdoor pursuits. The valley has long been known for its skilled stonemasons and architects, the so-called “maestri intelvesi”, whose craftsmanship spread across Europe in past centuries. The wooded surroundings offer numerous hiking trails, including routes up to Monte Sighignola, nicknamed the “balcony of Italy” for its sweeping views over Lake Lugano. The nearby village of Lanzo d'Intelvi provides facilities for cross-country skiing and winter walking. Lake Como, reachable via Argegno, is around a twenty-minute drive away, making it easy to combine a mountain stay with lakeside excursions. Overall, it's a quiet, unspoilt setting valued for its natural surroundings and tranquillity, appealing to those seeking a low-key alpine retreat close to two of Italy's most celebrated lakes.
