Valgorge

Valgorge is a village in southern Ardèche, nestled in the Beaume valley, at the heart of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park. This mid-mountain area is characterised by chestnut groves, granite outcrops and its proximity to the Tanargue massif, the highest point in the region. The village retains a rural, authentic character, with stone architecture typical of the Ardèche Cévennes. The area is popular for walking, with numerous waymarked trails leading through ridges, forests and surrounding hamlets. The Beaume river offers opportunities for summer swimming in an unspoilt natural setting. The climate, both Mediterranean and mountainous in influence, brings warm summers and cooler winters, ideal for outdoor activities throughout the year. Chestnuts, a signature Ardèche product, play a significant role in the local economy and cuisine. Valgorge serves as a good base for exploring neighbouring villages and the wild landscapes of the Ardèche Cévennes, offering a peaceful setting away from the busier tourist spots.
