Val-Couesnon

Val-Couesnon is a commune in north-eastern Ille-et-Vilaine, formed by the merger of several villages in the Fougères area, close to the historic boundary between Brittany and Normandy marked by the Couesnon river. The area is predominantly rural, characterised by traditional bocage countryside, grazing pastures and a few orchards, offering a peaceful setting well suited to countryside stays. The town of Antrain retains a collection of older buildings, while Bazouges-la-Pérouse is known for its artistic atmosphere, with contemporary works displayed throughout the village streets. The nearby Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, around thirty minutes away, makes this a convenient base for exploring the famous site, as well as neighbouring towns such as Fougères, with its medieval castle, or Rennes further south.
