Tréguier

Tréguier is a small historic town in the Côtes-d'Armor, in the Trégor area of Brittany, set at the confluence of the Jaudy and Guindy rivers, just upstream from their shared estuary. The town is dominated by Saint-Tugdual Cathedral, a Gothic building dating from the 14th-15th centuries with a distinctive openwork spire, alongside its cloister, one of the few still standing in Brittany. The old town retains a cluster of timber-framed houses and granite dwellings along cobbled lanes, together with a traditional market held on the main square. The marina, laid out along the Jaudy quays, gives access to the English Channel and is well suited to boating or riverside walks. Nearby, the Trégor coastline offers coves and coastal paths, along with neighbouring villages such as la Roche-Jaune and Plouguiel. Local cuisine centres on seafood, including shellfish and fresh fish, as well as Breton specialities such as crêpes and cider. Tréguier makes a peaceful base for exploring the religious and maritime heritage of this stretch of the Breton coast, combining history, nature and provincial calm.
