Thérondels

Thérondels is a rural commune in the Aveyron department, in the Occitanie region of southern France, located in the northern part of the department, on the edge of the Carladez area and close to the Aubrac plateau. Perched in mid-mountain terrain at an altitude of around 1,000 metres, the village enjoys an unspoilt natural setting, characterised by rolling landscapes and the nearby Sarrans reservoir, a hydroelectric lake popular for fishing and water-based activities. The surrounding countryside is well suited to walking and exploring the natural environment, with pastures, woodland and rivers typical of the Massif Central. Thérondels lies close to neighbouring villages such as Mur-de-Barrez, and falls within the culinary sphere of the Aubrac region, known for its beef and local specialities such as aligot and truffade. The climate is continental and mountainous, with mild summers and colder winters, making it ideal for green tourism during the warmer months. This still largely undiscovered area appeals to those seeking peace, nature and authentic rural heritage, well away from urban bustle, in a setting typical of northern Aveyron.
