Teyssieu

Teyssieu is a small rural village in the Lot department, in the Occitanie region, located in the Upper Dordogne Valley area, not far from Bretenoux. This landscape of limestone plateaus and green valleys offers a peaceful setting typical of the Quercy region, with stone houses and roofs of lauze slate or brown tiles. The surrounding countryside offers plenty of opportunities for walking or cycling, through woods, meadows and quiet country lanes. The nearby Dordogne River allows for outdoor activities such as canoeing or river swimming. The area is also known for its regional attractions, including the Padirac Chasm, the picturesque villages of Autoire and Loubressac, and Castelnau-Bretenoux Castle, all within a roughly twenty-minute drive. Gastronomically, the Lot region is renowned for its walnuts, foie gras and farm produce, widely available at local markets in neighbouring villages. Teyssieu therefore makes for a quiet base from which to explore the natural and cultural heritage of the Lot, away from the busier tourist routes.
