Cavo

Cavo is a small coastal village at the north-eastern tip of the island of Elba, in Tuscany, within the municipality of Rio. Facing the mainland and the port of Piombino, it offers fine sandy beaches as well as quieter coves, popular for swimming and water sports such as diving and sailing. The village retains a relaxed atmosphere typical of Elba's family-friendly seaside resorts, with a seafront lined with cafés and small shops. Nearby, Rio Marina and Rio nell'Elba reflect the region's mining heritage, once known for iron ore extraction, which can still be explored through a few industrial remains and a mineralogical museum. The surrounding area is also suited to walking, particularly towards Monte Grosso, which offers views over the Tuscan archipelago. Cavo's location makes it a convenient starting point for reaching other parts of the island, such as Portoferraio or Capoliveri, by boat or car, while still enjoying a more peaceful setting away from the busier summer tourist spots.
