St Vincent de Paul

Saint-Vincent-de-Paul is a village in the Landes department, in south-western France, just a few kilometres from Dax. The village takes its name from Saint Vincent de Paul, born in 1581 in the hamlet of Pouy, which forms the historic heart of the commune. A shrine dedicated to his memory, known as the Berceau de Saint Vincent de Paul, still stands there and draws visitors interested in religious heritage. The nearby town of Dax, well known for its thermal spa waters and mud treatments, allows guests staying here to enjoy wellness cures while being based in a quieter, more rural setting. The commune also lies along the River Adour, ideal for walks and fishing. The surrounding Landes countryside, with its pine forests and farmland, provides a peaceful, green setting. The wider region is also known for its gastronomy, particularly foie gras and duck-based dishes, as well as for rugby, a hugely popular sport throughout the Landes. The mild oceanic climate makes for pleasant stays for much of the year.
