St Michel-en-Grève

Saint-Michel-en-Grève is a coastal town on Brittany's northern shoreline, in the Côtes-d'Armor department, best known for its expansive sandy beach fringing the Lieue de Grève bay. This several-kilometre stretch, fully revealed at low tide, is popular for long walks and beach activities such as land yachting and kayaking. The Grand Rocher, the area's highest point, offers sweeping views over the bay and is a classic stopping point for walkers following the GR34 coastal path, which runs through the town and links up with the surrounding rocky coves. The village itself, more understated than some of its better-known neighbours, retains an authentic feel with its church and small centre. The nearby Pink Granite Coast, just a short drive away, makes for easy day trips to notable sites such as Ploumanac'h or Perros-Guirec. The temperate oceanic climate and the pronounced tides in this particular bay shape both the landscape and local life. Shore fishing and birdwatching along the coastline are among the activities enjoyed by visitors throughout the year.
