Savigny

Savigny is a small village in the Rhône department, located in the Beaujolais region, not far from Tarare. This hilly area, shaped by the Monts du Lyonnais and the first Beaujolais slopes, offers a typically rural setting characteristic of eastern France, well suited to country walks and exploring the Lyonnais countryside. The climate is semi-continental, with moderately warm summers and cool winters, making it a good spot for outdoor pursuits such as hiking and cycling, both popular in this undulating landscape. Savigny is conveniently placed for exploring the Beaujolais vineyards, renowned for their wines and terraced vine-covered hillsides, as well as for day trips to Lyon, around thirty kilometres away, or to Roanne. Village life here retains a rural character, with farming still part of the local economy. The surrounding area offers footpaths through woods and meadows, along with scenic viewpoints over the valley. It's a quiet, low-key destination, valued for its tranquillity and its proximity to the main tourist routes of the Beaujolais and greater Lyon area.
